Dr. Vijendra Kirnake is Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) & Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural (AVBR) Hospital at Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha. He has been working at JNMC and the 1300-bed AVBR Hospital since Jan 2015. Dr. Kirnake can also be consulted at Venus Critical Care Hospital in Nagpur.

During his 3-year Residency at Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital in Mumbai for the MD (Medicine) postgraduate degree, Dr. Kirnake gained experience and competence in various specialities, including emergency medicine, disaster management, medical intensive care, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology, hematology, and general medicine. He then served as Senior Resident (Academic) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for 14 months, during which time he was involved in the management of all medical diseases as well as handling of emergencies, critically ill patients and trauma cases.

As DNB (Gastroenterology) Resident for three years at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, Dr. Kirnake gained experience and expertise in the management of a wide range of gastro-related diseases and conditions, including the following:

  • Viral Hepatitis / Chronic Liver Disease / Cirrhosis
  • Acute Liver Failure
  • Liver Transplant
  • IBD / IBS
  • Gastrointestinal Malignancies
  • Motility Disorders - Esophageal and Rectal
  • Gastrointestinal Bleeding
  • Gastrointestinal Infections / Foreign body removal
  • Pancreaticobiliary Diseases.

In the second half of 2014, Dr. Vijendra Kirnake spent six months as Consultant Gastroenterology at Jaswant Rai Speciality Hospital in Meerut, working with Dr. Malay Sharma. In this high-volume centre Dr. Kirnake performed advanced endoscopy procedures such as esophageal stenting, pancreaticobiliary stenting (plastic and metallic), polypectomy, EVL, EST, glue injections, clip application, and management of acute bleeding. He observed over 1,000 ERCP and over 150 EUS procedures. He performed 200 ERCP and 50 EUS procedures, supervised as well as independently.

In his medical career thus far, Dr. Vijendra Kirnake has performed the following Gastrointestinal Interventions:

  • Diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopy.
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic Colonoscopy.
  • Enteroscopy.
  • Esophageal Manometry.
  • Liver Biopsy.
  • Portal pressure measurement by HVPG (Performed > 100 HVPG).
  • ERCP – Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography for gall stones, biliary malignancies, biliary strictures and pancreatic diseases.
  • EUS - Diagnostic and therapeutic Endoultrasound for esophageal, gastric, hepatopancreaticobiliary diseases and EUS Guided FNAC/Biopsy.
  • Therapeutic EUS - Drainage of pancreatic pseudocyst, rectal abscess and celiac plexus block.
